Training
New members who wish to be activated to search and rescue take a Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) course through our chapter to meet the core competency standards. For those who wish to learn more, there is a natural progression of skills from Searcher to Team Leader then to SAR Manager.
A ICS I-100: Introduction to Incident Command System self-study course is presented by the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency. This course explains what to do when arriving at the scene of an active search, and how to work within standard operating structures.
All ground searchers must be current with Standard First Aid.
Continuous improvement is at the core of membership. Members agree to attend meetings regularly, training sessions and participate in activities to maintain a minimum level of knowledge so that when the activation call is made to help bring home the missing, every member is ready, trained, and able to respond.
